Does anyboby know the optimal "normal" operating temp of the duramax and are the different versions the same temp also, lb7, lly, lbz

When I have my Predator hooked up I usually see around 190 to 195 for normal temps.
I have noticed that my milage isn't as good when the engine temps are low.

I'm no expert but I would guess optimum temps would be near 190

Yeah, mine never crosses 200 even with the chip AND ambient over 110.

The gage for mine is about 200-205 all the time..my tranny looks like about 150-160...:D

My lb7 usually goes around 190. Hottest I ever saw was NB Cuesta Grade (101 north of San Luis Obispo) at 105 degrees or so with my 15000lb trailer behind, it hit about 215 I think. That's with the six-gun on level 3 at 55 mph. EGT's were at 1250 pre-turbo if I recall.

Same guage readings as mine. I hook up my Predator and do inflight checks and see 195 degrees on the predator at the same time I see the roughly 200 to 205 reading on the factory guage. I guess one of them is a bit off.

I think all engines these days a running on the high end of the 190s to the low end of 200 for normal temps. I think it has something to do with Emissions???

Ya I would guess emissions and maybe cuz of the higher compression thease engines are running...?

From what I know, thats it. THe hotter they can get them to run the better off they are with burning everything up for emmissions, or so I've been told.

It's all emmisions related. The compression ratios are actually going down while the turbo boost pressures are going up.
