25 foot deck + 5 foot dove trail 14k gooseneck flat bed. Love it and will never, ever, go back to pulling a bumper pull.

You have seen mine before, but others on this site have not. I love my gooseneck, would not trade it for anything, other than a bigger one. My only regret it that I did not buy a 40' trailer, for two rigs and a bigger camper.

Here is a picture of my setup.

It's a 20' bed with 5' of dovetail.

MTMike,

Thanks for the compliment, it's much easier to use when it's wheeling time, easy to camp etc..

It does come with it's drawbacks, if you just want to help a friend out, it's a real pain in the a$$ to hookup and help out. Must drag the whole thing to where ever you are going.

But as for the camping/wheeling, it's a blast.

Then you should just swap trailers with me Rob. Very easy to hook to and go. I'll just have to live with the problems so you don't have to. Just the kind of guy I am... rotfl

Very Funny Russ!! rotfl rotfl rotfl I would swap with you if you had a 40' er. I like my small gooseneck, but for as big of a pain as it is, I should have got a 40'er. Hell I can't store it at my house, I have to store it at my office. Real pain for the quick day runs to TM.

Gota drive to the office to hookup and then back to the office to drop off. If I leave it in the street more than a night, I get the nasty gram from the HOA.

I would have sworn I already replied to this. :(

Anyway, 18' tandem axle 7k "car trailer" built with channel iron, much better than most of the "cheap" car trailers. Removeable fenders, hidden ramps, solid tie-down points tied solidly into the frame, spare tire mount, soon to be "tow gear box" on the tongue and complete rewire with "conduit" since the wiring keeps getting hashed trying to get to the trail heads...

I have got a 20' low boy goosenck, steel deck, tandem 7K axles with brakes on both. I have got to do some work to it, it needs some serious wiring work and some frame repair thanks to the PO booger welding the frame when they built it, snapped the welds on one side like a twig first time I loaded my 6K lb K5 on it:doah:. But it will be stronger than new the I am done, if I ever get it done, really sad when you own a trailer and still have to bum one off your friends to go wheeling:poke: .

http://coloradok5.com/photos/data/500/5360trailer01.jpg

16' homebuilt car trailer. MH axles and tires, looks like the springs are the main leaf from the MH with the other leaves tossed in the scrap pile. Rides like a brick when empty! Can't tell its back there once I have a load on it though.

Other trailer is a 1968 2 horse bumperpull. That one tows great empty or loaded until I get an unruley horse throwing it's weight around.

That trailer sounds a lot like mine. I built it to haul the cemetery backhoe and my K5 trail rig (when it's finished). It's 18' overall but it has a 2' drop. It's on a pair of 5K MH axles which haven't given me a lick of trouble in 11 years. I also now tow with an 85 F350 dump truck instead of the F250 in the picture.

Just brought it home today. Brand new 16+2 PJ, 7K pound, treated wood deck, brakes on both axles, and removable fenders. The only thing i dont like is the bulldog coupler, but i can deal with it for the price i paid. Tows real nice, and best of all it fits in my driveway. An 18+2 would have been nice, but this will work great.

A bit off subject, but speeking of Vegas, I was there last year for the Mopars at the Strip race/show. I dynoed the truck with just the Edge and AFE (only mods on the truck at that time) and got 439.4HP and 831.1 ft/lbs.

I haven't dynoed the truck since then, but added the Technicooler system, 5" exhaust, and upgraded the Juice to the Hot Juice. I would hope for about 450HP?

Spun most of the bearings in the ole' 73 C-20 so called the hook and took her home. Got in the backup tow rig {79 1/2 ton Chevy van} and headed back to get the trailer. Departed again for destination {Texas}. Upon arriving 1 1/2 days late Momma informed me she wasn't going home in that gut-less wonder of a van. {We averaged about 45mph for the whole trip at 4-5 mpg}. Going to add the gooseneck soon. Got this bumper pull at a deal, my paw inlaw bought it for $2000 and told me to use it.;)

It actually pulled really good with both of those heavy chevys on it. Pulled them about 200 miles the day I got it.

From the way the truck is sitting you need bags. You may need bags even with the gn.

Ah yes I see that now. I thought the springs and shocks were kinda worn out too because that doesn't look like enough tongue weight to force the rear down that far on a dually. Even on a FERD.:D

I know I love my bags. I do recommend spending a little extra and using an onboard airsystem with a control in the cab. My last truck had the nipple setup and that sucked when there was no compressor close by.

The tyres are something like 155/70/12 but they have 14ply sidewalls and run pretty high psi. I think they are rated at 1 tonne each, the trailer is 3500kg gross.

Took the toys the the EAA/Arlington Airshow in Washington State. My first heavy haul and the F450 and trailer performed flawlessly. This load had my GCVW over 35,500  and the 450 proved to be a pulling BEAST. Armor (spelled Armour 'cause it's a British tank) is heavy . . .
