Our '98 C30 with a Vortec 454 and NV4500 has had a funky clutch problem for a while now. THe throw on the clutch slowly fades away until I can barely get it in gear. After I fight barely having a clutch at all in and out of the gears it will eventually "pump" back up and work fine again for a week or two, then slowly will start to loose throw starting the whole process over again. THe oil level on the cylinder seems to be fine, I have no idea what it could be.

Maybe check for air in the lines?? Or maybe the flexplate is getting weak?

Bad slave cylinder maybe????

I don't know, I think we are just going to take it to a good transmission shop and let them figure it out.

A bad pressure plate will cause slippage, not problems with disengage, at least not likely and not like that. Slaves tend to leak when they go, and I don't see how a slave could act as described, so I wouldn't think that's the problem. My bet would be on the clutch master needs rebuild/replace.

I had my car do the same thing that was described earlier and my friend who worked on these cars all the time knew exactly what it was when I talked to him. He changed the slave cylinder on it and it fixed the problem, but it clould be the master cylinder too.
