My full-time job is as a graphic & layout designer for a medium-sized regional newspaper.
I also own & run a web desgin, hosting and computer repair business that consumes almost all my spare time. Hopefuly soon, it will be my only income... it's just too early to feel comfortable leaving my day job.

I'm a Regional Manager for a large company based in the East. I have 8 people that report to me and I travel quite a bit for this company.
We supply all of the non structural components for both the interior and exterior of a Self Storage Building. Not very exciting but it pays the bills and then some.

Computer programming and architecture consultant. Currently under contract as architect and lead programmer for a large scale system automation project. Also under contract with IBM Speech Research (talking to your computer) until recently (budget cuts). Sometimes also teach advanced programming techniques and new technologies to experienced programmers (1 week classes). That's why I was in NY and Boston earlier this year.
I'm a mail processing equipment mechanic for the US Postal Service. I prefer to be involved with projects at work, automating machines, etc., than my regular work. I'm taking the test to become an electronics technician soon, because it pays a little more.
We have several, multi-million dollar machines in my building to process the mail, as well as computers, labelers, strapping machines, conveyors, etc.
We do only international mail in my facility.

Really though, I don't design the machines, I just design the power systems that feed it, and external controls for some types of machines. And yes, I know how E-stops should be wired in.

I know, I know. I'm glad you know how E-stops should be wired....I'm in the process of an 80 hour project to fix someone's electrical hack job. rotfl
Control circuit is wired with telephone wire, flexible conduit everywhere (runs of 20'+) on the outside of equipment where it could be hit (needs to be IMC, and they ran flexible).
And I'd hope with that EE next to your name, you don't have to design individual control circuits. I can see you needing to design the panel--some of the panels for our machines are HUGE, with boatloads of wires for various PLCs, etc.
It's a mess.

My pop is an ET in the altoona, PA branch of the post office. I forget what level he is, like 10 or 11. I know he rakes in the money by the double fistfull. He's been there about 15 years now.
If no one has guessed yet I am a gravedigger. I bury the dead. We have 3 cemeteries and a monument company. My wife and I work together and in addition to the gravedigging we also make headstones (she does the layout and cuts the stencil, I sandblast them), pour the foundations for the headstones, and set the stones.
And I'll tell ya something Mrbeer I think I could give your dodge a real beating here in the cemetery. I'm usually hauling 4-5 ton of dirt from the hole with out F350 dump. Figure20-30 ton of dust a year from the quarry, 40-50 ton of 2RC and 2B gravel for the roads, 18' trailer with backhoe. And shipments of granite ranging from 4k-7k lbs. And that's not even counting the flatbed monument truck we pour the foundations off of and set the stones with. waytogo

I spent my first 12 working years in the typesetting/printing/graphics industry in NYC, the last 2 as Type Director at a large advertising agency. Left NY to persue happiness as a home improvement contractor (my customers were always happier than I was!). Worked as a residential framer, sider, roofer, trimmer, cabinet maker, painter and I forget all what-else. Was a commercial subcontractor for several years installing door packages, trim, and cabinets. Currently a superintendent for a company that builds really big boxes (retail warehousing), and run a contracting and tractorwork (digging, grading, mowing) business on the side.

Guess I'll update. I jumped on board a small commercial/residential electrical company. Basically I go out all day and do residential service calls fixing things around people's houses and do some commercial stuff when the commercial guys are too busy. Pays great but being in a hot attic when it's 105 outside is not the greatest... The company owners want me to take over the company when they retire but they want a longterm commitment and I'm not sure I want to commit to that but it's hard to say no to $$$

I was sales manager for Big Tex Trailers main plant in Mt. Pleasant, Tx for years until my in-laws health went south and the wife wanted to move back to La. to spend some time helping out. I shut down and sold out our ranch where we were running around 2000 head of commercial cattle. Same here, all our ranch rigs are mid 80s and early 90 fords... job security. Also a good friend is a parts manager for the IH/Case implement dealer and is a john deere man. Best part about the Case tractors is the cummins mill. He had one guy buy a replacement tractor cummins cause it was cheaper than the cummins shop to transplant into a chevy plus comes already setup with more HP.

Heres an Update:
I now live in Castle Rock Colorado and work for a company called A-1 Garage Door as a Service Technician. Pay is all right and I really enjoy it (worth more than money IMO) We service the whole Denver Metro area and I cover the South end of the area.
If anyone in CO needs their Garage fixed let me know and I will hook you up!

I'm an operator in one of the local chemical plants. Sometimes it's great, sometimes it's a pain in the ass, but the pay and benefits are hard to beat around here...
Some day I'll probably talk myself into going back and taking the other 2 years worth of classes for a BSME and pilot a desk or something...

I'm the Senior Pastor of Jenison Bible Church in Hudsonville, MI. I bought my truck when I lived out in the country and pulled a trailer with horses and mules. Now that I've moved to MI from MO (and into the suberbs in the process) I don't need all that power anymore, but I still like it!! :D
BTW, my name has "1/2 ton hauler" under it, but that's not accurate. I drive a 3/4 ton. This is probably pretty obvious, but I can't find where to change it. Could someone point me in the right direction? Thanks.

I work as a chief engineer onboard an ocean going tug boat. Travelling between New Jersey and Puerto Rico and sometimes Florida. Running 2- 3,600 horse, 20 cylinder, turbo charged EMD's for main engines and 2 Catapiller 3304 (turbo) for generators, a Blown Detroit 8v71 for the tow winch. We burn about anywhere from 7,000 to 8,000 thousand gallons of diesel a day, and normally carry 168,000 gallons fuel on board. The power is unbelievable. We tow a 730 foot triple deck barge, 100 foot beam, which in turn carries maybe 5-6 hundred autos and other various equipment, and about 600 full size trailers. These mains run constantly, about 650 hours a month, the Cats run 250 hours and are then serviced.
