What kind of Fuel Mileage are you other stroker guys getting from your 6.0's. I own a 2005 F-350 King Ranch Crew Cab Dually with 4.10 gears and 5spd. auto. I have put an Airaid intake on my truck and recently added an areo turbine muffler to it instead of the stock one. After all is said and done I recently went up in the hills over the new year and got 13.2 MPG per the computer. Not sure if that is acceptable or not? What do you guys think??? I am very satisfied with my truck in every way that it runs and drives, would buy another one if I had to.

were you towing? or were you empty? I cant speak of the 6.0's as I have a 7.3. But i get about 14 towing and 18.5 solo on the freeway at 70mph. I too have 4.10's.

It will definitely help you out a whole lot if you raise your tire psi to abot 70psi-75ps, but it will ride like a rock and bounce all over the place. I usually keep mine at 65psi, a lot smoother.

I get between 15-16 empty in mine, it's a dually with a manual, 4.10s and a camper shell.

Try 70psi tire pressure and see if you like the ride, if you dont go down to 65psi. Pumping up those tires will definitely make a difference.

some say that the more miles a diesel has the better milage it gets because it broken in.

I exaggerated a little bit, i checked today again, I get about 17-17.7 empty at 70mph and no hills.

Had the muffler shop put the shorter version of the Aero Turbine muffler on and what a difference!! Awesome sound Similiar to a gas V8, Improved fuel economy Towing atv's and got 15.7 at Lake George CO. I am happy with that.

My girlfriends dad has a 6.0 dually w/ 4:10's and the 5 spd auto and he cant get any better than 15 when he goes over 70 mph unloaded. With a travel trailer around 10-12 mph.

I will tell all of you this, IF you take your powerstroke to a dealer for poor fuel milage they are going to road test it and monitor boost if that is not low you will get the truck back, FORD released a TSB saying there is no set fuel mileage on a 6.0l and to do what i said above and if its ok basically tell the customer its ok.

Look at the window sticker on the passenger side of the rigs sitting on the dealership lots. They don't have an estimated fuel economy as cars do.

BTW, I recently got 14.5 mpg towing a Toyota Carolla on an 1800 lb trailer at 65mph. And I run a 35" tire.

Worst tank...10.0 MPG pulling my trailer against a stiff headwind, average 16.6-17 commuting, 18.5 solo on the highway.

My 05 just turned over 36,000 miles. Towing my Airstream from Sacramento to Phoenix last week I managed just under 14 MPG running 60-62 MPH in CA. After I fueled on the CA/AZ border I started running 65 and my mileage droped to 12.5.

My truck will get over 20 MPG solo IF I keep my speed under 65 MPH. Running a more normal 70-75 MPH I can manage 18.5.

guess I better check tire pressure a little more closely...lol 03 f350 cc drw fx4 gets 14 empty at 60. 10 or less toting anything heavier than 3 rolls hay on 25ft gooseneck. Will run like a scalded dog empty or loaded but won't pass a fuel station.;) 86k miles and 4.10's

My truck does very good to get 14mpg solo with 65 psi in the tires. I can tell you this with 30,000 miles on it if this is the best it getts i'll go back to a Dodge. I sold my 97 Dodge with over 400,000 miles and it got 21,22 mpg solo and 17 mpg with a 32' goose neck stock trailer at 70 and 80 mph.

Hey guys---I have about 16k miles on the trucl right now and have clocked the mileage 4 times since getting it. It is a completely stock motor with 22" rims and a tab bit bigger tires than normal--nothing crazy though! I got between 12.5-13 mpg..that's it!! That was NT hauling anything at all...I am scared to see what it drops to if I get that 12,000 lb 5th wheel we are looking at!!! Any suggestions on how to get better mileage WITHOUT voiding a warranty? Chad

I've got a guy coming to work for us that owns an '02 7.3. He claims the best he ever got on the highway empty was 13. something...:doah: He's had it serviced twice trying to find any dirty filters too.

Computer reads one thing, but figure actual miles driven and gallons filled up, mine AIN'T close. Have in the shop right now to re-calibrate speed-o for 35" tires.

Jesus, what are you guys doing to get these 18 - 20 mileage numbers? I have an 05 F250 auto/4x4/3.73's, and I get 14-15 unloaded under all conditions. City, highway, doesn't matter. I drive like an old man around town, and I can't remember the last time I exceeded 70mph on the highway.

I really like the truck and I have had no mechanical problems, but the mileage is absolutely not acceptable for an unloaded, unmodified diesel. I've had both 93 and 01 Fords that got between 18 and 22mpg unloaded, so this is a pretty significant drop in mileage. It irritates me to no end.

rjt43, don't look for mileage from 6.0 4X4's! If you like to look @ 18-19 mpg look @ your computer read-out, but don't forget to pull into your friendly diesel supplier! 15-16 mpg is tops, loaded, unloaded, 55-60-65-70 mph it don't make a ***p! I bet you haven't filled up that truck with out checking the actual mileage to see if magically it did something different overnight to get better mileage! it won't, just drive the thing, Ford won't help ypou get mileage.

Yeah, I gave up on the mileage issue long ago, and I never expected Ford to do anything. I'm just a little annoyed and venting.

I think part of the problem is the obvious design flaws of the 6.0L engine, and I think part of it is the automatic transmission - my other Fords were both 4x4's, but they were manual transmissions. Ah well, I had the itch to buy a new truck and I didn't do as much research as I should have. Suppose this is what I get.
