Just in case anyone needs a reminder on the difference here are some pics to help. (keep in mind the billet grille and bumper inserts on my Ram pictured are an aftermarket add on, not factory)

I dig the monochrome look on the sport ones, I've always thought that it would be cool to get a black one and have the wheels powdercoated black too. Be all Mad Max style.:D

Be all Mad Max style.:DMe too, I wanted the sport version since the first one I saw go bye. I especially like the painted front end with the billet bumper and grille inserts, gives it a modest "bling" look. Every once and a while I will see a Ford or GM with a match painted bumper and when I do I get all gitty like a school girl..... :D

Mine is a Laramie, I wanted the chrome...I think the body painted bumpers look silly, and if they become damaged, that's just one more thing to paint.

Just my opinion though...I prefer chrome bling over body color bling. All that talk and no vote? Yours would fit into the SLT catagory.

lol I would disagree on the "backwards" thing, I do like my new truck better, but it was a very good truck. I liked my Ram a lot... Fine, I'll vote Sport...

Ha ,ha I agree about being picky . Does it count if I deleted carpet and ordered the vinal mat in its place ???
The sales manager kept on telling me that deleting the carpet did not save any money and I kept telling him that was not the point. The whole sales staff thought I was nuts !

I wish that I could have got the Sport pkg head lights on my SLT - the regular Dodge lights just plain suck . Is it possible to replace with the Sport ones or is it a wiring nightmare ?

It's a popular mod for the SLT's and have heard the wiring is fairly easy for someone that is good with electrical work. Which would mean I would suck at trying to swap them in. :D

Cool ! I need to do a little research and learn how to do that . It might be time to re-new my TDR membership .....:doah: I don't have a lot of time for web site browsing and I let my memebership runout because I spend most of my time reading on CK5 .

i know what you mean about the bad stock lights. i went to kragens and bought some sylvania lights for a bout 50 bucks a pair. the new lights are so much brighter. you might wanna check them out as a cheaper option

RustyHuh??

I don't think Dodge offered both packages on the same truck...that is like saying you got both the Cummins and V10 option. :D

Maybe something is different on the '02's or something? Does the little emblem that is above the bed on the side of the truck behind the rear door say "sport" or "SLT?"

Honestly, I don't know how DOdge classified their trucks all that well. I don't know what you had to order to get leather or what not.

On the 2002s, you could order the G or H package that got you the leather interior and a number of comfort/convenience bells and whistles. These (especially the H package with the heated seats and power passenger seat) were referred to as the SLT+ package - they were both upgrades over the cloth seat SLT, and Laramie wasn't a separate model name in 2002.

A separate option was the Sport package that got the color-matched bumpers and grille surround, driving lights, dual bulb clear headlamps, etc. My truck has both the SLT+ and Sport packages - it's a bright white Sport with tan leather interior. The badge on the roof pillar says "Sport".

I see now. I guess mine is an SLT+ too, I have full leather with heat, just in the flavor of black. I bought my truck slightly used to I never had a chance to get familiar with the order sheets and what models or packages were required to get leather, etc.

Mine is technically a slt but I have ranchand bumpers front and rear so really it's neither. I like the sport better than the slt but I wouldn't give up my bumpers for the either. :pimp:

When I bought mine truck in 2000, it was a Laramie Sport. There is no indication on the trucks exterior that it's a Laramie. The Sport badging on each side of the hood, the front end white paint treatment with the large air dam along with the decal on each door "Ram 3500" with the Cummins 24V Tubo Diesel below the Ram3500 is all part of the Sport Package. It was supposed to mean, everything that was available as an option was in the truck.

Look at one of the pictures I've posted and you'll see the decals. The running boards and flares are not part of the sport package.

Both of our CTD's are SLT Laramie's......but I am jealous of the superior Sport headlights - I have to find a set of them.

Mine's a black 2005 SLT with sport package. Someday when it's fast it's going to be rewarded with an SRT10 hood.

My dads truck is a 05 Big Horn edition and I don't know if its a SLT or a Sport. What is it ?:)Go back to the first page, there is a pic of both an SLT and Sport 2nd gen. It follows suite on the later body. All it is is a different bumper and grille that is painted the same color as the rest of the truck instead of the chrome. Also the headlamps are better on the 2nd gens.

I don't think you can get both the sport and a big horn package on the same truck but I'm not sure.

My first Dodge was a 2001 Sport w/offroad package. Loaded to the gills. Long since gone, I traded it's replacement on the my current Diesel. It's an SLT. I wanted the Sport package, but since it was purchased used, It wasn't my call...
