I have a 93 F-250 2wd. Turbo 7.3 IDI diesel, ZF 5 speed, and 10.25 sterling(I think).
This was the 2nd truck I have ever owned. I love this truck and have many memories in it.
I want to do an SAS on it. I was thinkin using a D44 w/ a divorced np205.
The goal of this would be a DD/mild mud/trails/ tow rig for my 86 k5.
Anybody done this? Pics?
How would I do the steering?
Leafs would be the easiest I think? Opinions?
What leafs should I go with?
Thanks for any and all input.

Leafs would be the easiest way to do it. I dont think that a D44 would be nearly as strong as you need. I would definetly have to say D60.

I agree, the D44 would strain under the weight of the diesel engine, let alone any off-road use on top of that. You'll need to go with a D60, although a D50 would probably do the job too if you take it easy and stay with tires 33" or under. A D50 is basically a D44 with D60 outers on it, they came on Ford F250 and F350s for awhile.

Thanks for the replys yall. I have been out of town all week and this has been the first chance I got to look at the net.
I have been lookin at my truck. I think I can fab the spring hangers and all that but my question is in refrence to steering. What would be the best setup? Do I need to change my steering box or can I use the one I have? How about all the linkage and stuff?
Also am I going to have to get a diffrent engine crossmember?
Thanks for the help.

I think that the best way would be to find a wreaked Straight axle truck and take everything from the front and transfer it to your rig. it would also be good to at least look at it for comparisons sake.
