01 cummins no start.
wont start hot or cold.
will fire if given just a shot of either, then run great and fine, but the instant you shut it down and try to refire it, it wont even attempt to kick off.
no codes
2 streams of datat screwed up though.
i have RPM when cranking, but the CMP rpm pid stays at zero.
if i unplug the CMP the tach will die, but truck will still fire off with either and then run fine
do i have a bad CMP, or is there a fuse i am missing that controls the ECM sidde of it since the tach normally works, but doesnt when i unplug it, but truck runs the same.
also, fuel temperature(non servicible sensor inside the injection pump) reads -657,789.0 *f and keeps on getting colder as i play with it.
could this faulty input be causing it not to fire off the pump?

Sounds like either a crank position sensor or VP44

where is the crank sensor again.
didnt it used to be above the starter, but they did away with it in the later ones i thought?

The CKP remained by the starter to my knowledge for all years. Regardless, you will most certainly get some DTC's if there is a bad VP44 ECU or CKP. How were the codes checked? Through the odometer display, code reader or scanner?

snap on modus was used. there is no visible CKP sensor by the starter.
would start though when fully cold, or hot when room temp water is dumped over the IP.

needs an injection pump and a turbo.
turbo wastegate is froze SOLID.

the starter have to b removed to see the crank sensor.
