View Full Version : Thoughts on wheel spacers on duallys?

When my first set of tires wear out I'd like to get something a bit wider, but I'm apprehensive about using wheel spacers, I'm just not sure if they're going to cause me problems in the future. I won't do anything to sacrifice the usefulness of my truck, but I got the 4.10 gears so that I would be able to go up a little in tire size to help the thing float on the sand at Pismo. Duallys kind of suck on the sand so I just want all the help I can get. The wider taller tires look cool too so that's a bonus.

I was thinking about a 1 or 2" spacer between the duals on the rear so I can run something like a 295/75r17 (if they make anything like that when it's time to do it) or a 35x12.5r17. Opinions?

I'm in the same spot, I want the same size tires and I'm unsure on the spacer. Been searching TDR and most are happy with them... I'm not liking the aluminum though...

Yeah, I'm not thrilled with the aluminum either. Choices are few for me since the Ford is an oddball pattern. At least some of us can go down to our garage and make our own out of steel, most of us don't have that luxury.;)

I'm running the alloy 2in spacer towing 14,700lbs gross with a bumper pull and haven't had any problems "yet". 12.50's aired down are a dream in the sand.

I also drive drive like a jackass unloaded. All of the problems I've herd are from lack of re-torqing the lug nuts after installation.

Hey I just crawled out from under my rock about 9 months ago by getting a computer. I can get a picture of the rear of the truck only because the front is under the knife. I'm finishing up a leaf spring conversion with a 78 Ford HP 60waytogo .
