what type of load are you looking to pull? 2wd or 4wd?

I'm assuming the truck you will be towing with is a 1500 also? That's kind of a big load for it. The engine is only rated at 205 HP if I remember correctly, so a blower would be the only way to get a big boost in HP, and that would probably only give you about 50-75. Your weakest link towing wise would most likely be your rear end and gearing. If you are only towing once, and a short distance, you should be OK, but for extended towing you will be working the truck a little hard.

I would start with a adjustable fuel pressure regulator (jet or turbo city), throttle body spacer, headers and exhaust (3" single), and a chip. It seems like alot of stuff but its only about $1000.00 for everything.
Good luck,

swap in a big block. it's cheaper and well worth it.
