I've got a '96 k2500 Suburban with @125,000mi on it. It has recently been using water, oil, trans fluid, power steering fluid, tie rod ends, tires........

It appears to be leaking both water and oil out of the front of the intake manifold. And once I found a thin layer of oil floating in the radiator, but that was about 5,000mi ago.

Any thoughts??? What are the book hours on intake gaskets? Do these motors eat head gaskets (if I'm doing the intake, now would be the time for head gskts)?

Come to think of it, would this leaking be the cause of intermittent starting problems?

These engines are bad about intakes leaking, but it not a very hard job. Good luck.

did you ever have an dexcool in it or mix green with the dex?I had a customer come in today in a caddy with a blown head gasket you could see the oil in the overflow tank.Might want to pull the intake and have a look see or send it to the shop water can do some damage to rods kinda make em look like a c instead of like and l.

I think it's had both coolants in it. I can't believe that would have anything to do with it!!!

Yes it seems kinda hard to belive but GM contacted my company about not mixing the two siteing possible damage to the gaskets but to be honest about 80K to 100K its time to change it if not sooner I feel the 150K is honestly a joke.

Well, Yesterday on my way home from work, it started missing on the two right rear cylinders (I think). It feels electrical but I won't be surprised if it turns out to be the head gasket!
