So on my way to work I pass by truck scales on 580 and got me thinking..ouch..hehehe
Do we Calss C drivers EVER have to stop at thease scales? I mean let's say I have a slidein camper and my K5 in tow, fully loaded (the truck not merotfl ) and going down the hwy do we have to stop? My guess is NO we don't.

No you don't since you're not commercial. I don't think pickups ever have to stop at them...

I can’t say if it’s the same on you’re side of the world but down here you don’t have to stop but the cops can ask you to weigh in on a traffic stop. The law let me register my 14k trailer at 7k to save on half the cost but I run the risk of getting slapped with a fine if I run over the 7k lb. mark.
I think you’d really have to tick a cop off to get to that point but it can happen.

No on pickups. I even drive my medium duty commercial service truck that has a CA # past them without problems.

Just make sure you aren't ever over your GCWR or trailer weight rating so just in case the CHP does make you weigh in you don't get a major fine!

Agree on the pick up's in fact most have a sign that says "No Pick-up trucks". Now if you're pulling a GN trailer you're in a gray area, as I've heard some GN horse trailer people told they need to sign up for the BIT program.
RJF, if they ever deside to come after you in the service truck it's a big fine. Unless you're signed up for "pre-pass, By-pass".:eek:

I only weigh 10.5K and have hydraulic brakes. I don't think my rig is heavy enough, especially without air brakes....or at least I hope so. :doah:

I've seen F350s with service beds going thru fremont and mission hill scales. How much bulk fluids are you carrying? Enough to run haz-mat placards? It depends on how big a SOB the motor carrier officers want to be.
