Heres what I have: F350 '99 superduty, 7.3....
Coming home last weekend, I noticed an abundance of smoke in the rearview mirror. Pulled over to find, fuel steadily pouring out the overflow tube. Being in a pinch, I plugged it with a piece of fuel line hose.

What is the fix for this, and why did this happen?
I do have the oil changed every 3000mi. and fuel filter every 9000mi.
The truck is going to the shop in the morning. The place I'm taking it to, told me that if I plug-up the overflow, "the fuel will be forced out thru another line(didn't specify which one) and on to the top of the block and may result in a fire". Is there any truth to this statement?
A friend of mine told me that that overflow line is for bleeding.

Any info will be greatly appreciated.

you dont have a fuyel overflow.
you have a fuel drain, which is probably wha you are reffering to.
is the drain all the way shut? if so, you need a new drain assembly to bolt to the fuel bowl.

Actually, did'nt know what to call it, my mistake.
Where would the shut off valve be? I tried following the line with no success. I'll do a search on installing a new drain kit.

You need PN F81Z-9A153-AA available at your local Ford dealer. If they are out (backordered) PM me and I will be glad to sell you one. I have 20 in stock but they are going fast. :eek:
