I'm close to buying my first truck. It'll probably be a Silverado 2500HD 4x4. I know my wife (who's only 5'3") will not be able easily to get in and out without some sort of running boards. Myself, I don't like the tubular type. I prefer the more old fashioned kind that have about 6" of depth to them so I have something fairly secure to stand on while I'm pulling myself into the cab.

In round numbers, about how much do this type of running boards cost?

<$500? $500 - 1000? >$1000?

If I'm ****ering with a dealer on a truck in the $30,000 range, and I want him to come down "a few hundred dollars" but he's resisting, [don't ask me how much a "few" is] would it be an effective bargaining chip to ask him to throw in something like this?

Not sure on the cost but I would ask for them, keep in mind that the dealers cost is much less than retail anyway so it is kind of like meeting in the middle, I allways ask for a tank of gas and things like that, it doesn't hurt.

ditto.

I have the round bar steps on my crew cab. Wife and daughter had too much trouble climbing in without them, particularly in a dress or something.
