I sure hope it is basically identical to the Ford F450/550 setups and options, but better being it's not a Ford.:D

If it has a pickup bed option, full leather and creature comforts of 1500-3500 models have, and 19.5" Alcoa aluminum wheels I will be happy.

If there is a Mega Cab LONG bed option I will be tickled, and will pick one up in a few years off the used market.

if dodge is smart building a 4500 and 5500 model and it bed the normal ram cab and bed on a 2 ton frame like the f-550 then they will have a huge market advantage over ford just cause of their name haha.

Hey DODGE, I've got two questions for you....so just sit right down there and read up...

1. Where is my 19.5 Alcoas that are an option...hmmmm? I won't buy one unless I can get Alcoas on it.:D

2. Where's the Mega Cab long bed???? You can't seem to make one in a 3500 chassis so at least "get r done" this time around, hmmm?:popcorn:

Where's the regular cab with a 10' bed, 22.5 10-lug, and power tow mirrows with clearance lights? I think they call it BFD.

Since my last post on this subject, I have looked into this truck a little deeper. No one in my area expects to even see one until after the first of the year.

Nether the 4500 or 5500 have any towing capacity when you look at weights. The 3500 with more hp and torque would be a better choice for combined capacity.

From Dodges* Web site;

Curb weight 4500 quad cab 188" wb with six speed standard tranny 8000lbs*.
52 gallons of fuel estimated 350lbs
Passenger weight 300lbs
Hauler bed 1400lbs

= 10,050lbs. Rated Combined towing capacity 26,000 lbs.
= 15,950lbs left for trailer weight.

The 3500 with a 4:10 and 6sp tranny

Curb weight 6440* lbs
Fuel 35 gallons 245lbs
passenger weight 300lbs
= 6985lbs

Rated combined capacity 23,500lbs
16,515lbs left for trailer.

Now I relize that the curb weights may not be totally accurate. But the idea is the 4500/5500 has no towing capacity compared to other 4500/5500 trucks. No True Crew Cab, and no truck bed.

The GVW is the same as other 4500/5500 trucks. I also realize Dodge wanted to limit GCVW to 26,000lbs for commercial applications.

What about the rest of us who will not use the truck commercially?

Some additional combined towing capacity exceeding what a 3500 is capable of would be nice.

I've seen 2 in the past month, being the truck plant is only 45 minute down the road....

waytogo I saw one sitting at a dealer a week ago or so. A 4500 cab & chassi. I didn't talk to anybody as I was short on time and didn't want to get held up by a salesperson that didn't know more than I did. Looks basicaly like an F450, but better because it said cummins on the side. With no bed you could get a good look at everything underneath, and wow, they sure have big brakes behind those 19.5 wheels. If that 6 speed tanny is any where close to as smooth as the Alison, that will be one sweet ride.:cool:

i wonder if it is like GMC and chevy with sterling making them now... i need to price shop before i buy one... lol
