These pics are Army fuel cell Silverado's, looks to have IRS (Independant Rear Suspension) I hope they are just testing it for GM SUV's and do not plan on using it in their trucks in the future?

Yikes, IRS would be a departure from the norm on a HD pickup...

Could this mean Honda started a trend with the Ridgeline, is this the future? :stir:

:doah: I know there is pressure for GM to come out with an IRS rear for their SUV's so they can have a 3rd row seating stow away like Ford has (IRS creates the under bed room for seat storage) so I figured this would happen. I wouldn't think they would use it in their tucks, but if they were not going to, then why did they go there for the Army?

IRS would be great for a Tahoe but it's just wrong for an HD truck .......
GM is taking the cushy ride thing way to far if that is what they are going with.

I think it's a ground clearance thing for the army. Looks alot like a rear lower control arm and coil from an hmmwv.

I would have to say it is at least a proven item on the originall Hummvee. It would give the advantage of being able to put the rear axle closer to the rear for towing and should be able to handle more tongue weight. Oshkosh has a heavy, offroad truck that is independant too.

Also, keep in mind that's an electric truck. One motor per rear wheel, I believe.
