Maybe they will have better luck with the 6.7 thats slated for 2010.

The diesel-powered Super Duty trucks will have their software updated to recognize improper levels of heat in the exhaust system

Then what, the motor shuts down? Sounds like that would only be a band-aid on the problem?

Jesus, what the hell is wrong with that truck? The flames I understand, but that thing sounds terrible. Does the 6.4 sound like that, or is this truck screwed up?

Never thought I'd be glad to have a 6.0L, but here we are. I hope Ford is able to make a go of it with this engine, because they'll probably be in trouble if they can't.

Ya i agree with him too. IF i were ever too buy a new SD (which im not) i would wait like another year because they need some time to figure out their crap.

the engine sounds like it has stuck injectors. Thst would explain the flames, way too much fuel, soot in the particulate filter triggering the increased egt programming to burn it out, RAW DIESEL AND HUGE EGT = flames. would be kinda cool if it was controllable.

Yeah my gasser might not have the power of the other trucks around here but the Triton is hard to beat in terms of longevity and reliabilty.

Get the facts before you complain about what you dont know about..

There is a recycling system on the 6.4s that will cycle to clean the motor of debis and contaminates from fuel and stuff.. Basically a purge.. The Pezo (sp?) injectors fire at some 30,000-50,000 psi, added with the purge system, and or the driver, and a problem with the computer it can cause a fault to cause this.. Simple enough all it needed was a reburn of the program, second is that its only been found on 3 of the 6.4s and the other trucks have all ready been checked and no others found.. Right so you have one person comming into work with a bad hangover at the factory on a monday morning or just having a bad day, How do you usually feel on mondays, the problem is fixed as advertised.. For crying out loud every dam manufacture has recalls, but everyone wants to bitch about things just to bitch to what, to make there balls feel bigger...

I seem to remember Dodge just having a major recall and the same with Chevy.. :stir:

Yeah but ford has more recalls on just there Diesel engines Then dodge and chevy have on there whole trucks combined

Ford sells more diesel than Dodge and Chevy combined. They are statisically going to have more recalls.

That might be true but even if Ford sold twice as Many Diesels as dodge chevy combined they'd still have 10 times as many recalls ......
All I'm saying is that the 6.0 is J-u-n-k and it appears that the 6.4 is gonna be as well

Ford ( as much as it kills me to say ) Builds the best truck of the big 3 (6.0 diesel engine excluded) if they could get there diesel reliability up they'd be unstoppable.

the 7.3 was a good engine but it was not with out it's share of problems ( while not as many as the 6.0) .

I'd like to see a comparison on Recalls and warranty claims
Between the 7.3,6.0, Cummins,and Duramax
