wow that would be a very hevey moter in a k5 and probly take out some of the 4x4 capalaty from your ride
Which 7.3? N/A, Factory Turbo IDI, or Powerstroke? None are the same motor. And why?
No matter what, it would take a massive ammount of work, would require you to have a Dana 60 up front to manage all that weight, and would not bolt up to a GM tranny. A Powerstroke would require all kinds of computer gizmo's as well. Swapping in a Navistar motor isnt worth the work, IMHO. If you are talking about swapping in an IDI, then just swap a turbo 6.2/6.5, there wont be much difference in performance and they will be easier swaps, plus wont require a D60. If you want a P-stroke, just swap in a 6bt, easier, has more power potential, and is mechanical, saves a lot of headaches.

yes i now that it is a heavy engine but with prices of 8 dollar a gallon here in the Netherlands(for 95 octane gasoline!) it is something too think about! i heard and saw that GM diesels were bad (the 6.2 and 6.5 liter) and i don.t like much electronics on my car soo i thought maybe a Ford 7.3 engine would fitt but does it fitt? and will it bold on too a nv4500 or sm 465 manual tranny:confused:

Like Joez said, the PS wont bolt up to a GM tranny. Power numbers vary greatly but somewhere around 200HP and 420 ft lbs. A 6bt would be a much better choice.
