Although the tires that are on my dd/tow rig have decent tread it's time to get some new shoes for it... they're showing signs of weather rought and have a few chunks here and there...

I'd like to step up to a load range E tire.... I had 1,400lbs in the bed a few nights ago (bags of concrete) and the suspension didn't even sweat it but the tires buldged a fair bit so that's why I'd like to step up to E's...

Anyways... a 33" tire for a 16" rim (because that's what I already have and 16's are cheaper :) ), preferably load range E....

Suggestions?

EDIT: I searched on this a while back and was set on some 295/75-16 BFG AT's but after further reading I'm not sure... people that tow/haul don't seem to have great luck with them...

I'm a big fan of Interco TRXUS. I've had two sets of 285/75-16s that have lasted me over 60K miles. I've currently got a set on the front of my dually now with about 15K on them with no problems what so ever. They're load range E and not to expensive. Plus, they have a fairly aggressive tread for the bit of off road driving I do, but they're not as loud as my BFG Mud Terrains I used to have. I will continue to buy them as long as they have a size to fit.

My dad asked me last night about the Trxus STS's... they're supposed to be a good street/sand tire which is exactly what I do with the truck but I wasn't sure if the quality was there...
They are quite a bit cheaper than most others though so I might give them a try...

I'm assuming you have the Trxus MT's... or do you have STS's?

Pretty slow forum lately... any other suggestions? If not I think I'll check in with a local tire shop about the Trxus tires...

They were the MTs. I've never had the others.

I will probably be getting Nitto Dura-Grapplers... load range E and 45k mile warranty.

My only problem with the Nitto brand is that they are based in Japan.

haha... there are plenty of great companies based in Japan.

I know, I know, I just would rather support the USA if I can. This is not always possible, try shopping for good quality electronics sometime. But, for me and my dollar I would rather spend it here and have at least some of it end up here than have my dollar utlimatley end up over seas.

Just went to the Toyo all terain in a "E" rating. They seem very stable with my 12,000 lb travel trailer and are wearing great. 285/75-17's.

I had a set of them on my 93 K3500. They held up well for me. My brother has BFG AT's on his Blazer. The Truxus MT's were quieter. Plus they have a nice load rating. Somewhere around 3600LBS if I remember correct.

My only problem with the Nitto brand is that they are based in Japan.

I feel the same way. I just can't bring myself to put tires on my truck not made in USA when I know they are out there.

I got some Nitto Terra Grapplers in the 305/70-16 Load range E flavor on some black steelies... I love the setup.
It runs smooth and straight as an arrow down the freeway and they're really quiet.

I'm towing my k10 to the dunes next weekend so I'll let you now how they tow...
