I recently removed my radiator and was suprised to find no transmission lines to disconnect from the radiator like all of the GM's I have around the ranch. I see that only the air to oil cooler is used. This suprised me very much. Is this correct? Is this the heavy duty setup? Is it adequit? How does a Dodge 47RE need less cooling power than any other GM auto tranny that runs through the radiator and air to oil cooler? I don't get that.

Thanks.

The other ? is why doesn't it need the heat provided by running thru the radiator for cold weather operation?

Look below your turbo. You'll see a canister that has coolant lines attached. That IS your tranny cooler/warmer otherwise known as a heat exchanger. Better than an in-radiator tranny cooler 'cause the heater will heat faster due to not running through a thermostat. waytogo
