I just baught a 2001 2500 cummins with an auto trans, I love it but I want to change all of the fluids (engine, trans, t-case, and diffs) what are the capacities on them? the owners manual doesn't even list the cummins in their. Thanks for any responses in advance.

The Cummins ISB holds about 11 quarts. I haven't changed my tranny fluid yet but would imagine it's around 11-13 quarts. I changed the D70 fluid in my truck also and I was pumping oil out of a 5 gallon pale but would say it took somewhere around 3 quarts to 1 gallon. The Tcase I havent touched, but if memory serves the 241 in my K5 holds about 3 quarts and would imagine our Dodges are the same since it's the same Tcase.

I have changed all of my fluids over the Amsoil synthetic products since this thread was made and since it's been bumped back up.....

engine pan holds 10 quarts, filter holds 1 quart.

Trans holds 17-19 quarts

Transfer case holds just shy of 3 quarts on standard versions, the HD version holds roughly another quart, I think.

Front D60 holds about 3.5 quarts.

Rear D70 holds about 4 quarts.

Check this website out. It should answer your questions.

http://www.dodgeram.org/tech/specs/Ramspecs.htm

The 241 could hold 4.7qt if it is a 241D and 6.5qt if it is a 241HD.

P.S. I to am switching my trucks fluids over to Amsoil. I just became a dealer like RJF and I will be using there products in my truck. The only fluid I won't have as Amsoil is the fluid for the NV4500 manual trans. It is a picky tranny so I am just going to use the stock Syntorque fluid in it.

Your sponsor needs to do a better job....:stir:

Amsoil makes a gear/trans oil idealy designed for the NV4500, I wouldn't use anything else. I just finished putting Amsoil syncromesh in my dad's NV5600, which is an even pickier trans.

It is not my sponsor it is Rob (therobzilla). He has been doing research on it and he has convinced himself and me that the stock fluid is the only real route for these. His synchro's are wasted and he has to rebuild his NV4500. I don't want to have to do that anytime soon. In this one case I am not sure I am willing to take the chance.

I probably won't be changing the NV4500 fluid soon so it really doesn't matter.
