What speed do the cummins shut off at? Well I know It ain't 95 :pimp:
I'm just wondering because 95 is plenty fast enough, as Toby Keith says "I ain't as good as I once was"

Not that I think it's a good idea but I have had mine over 105 MPH and ran out of RPM's so unless I back off some final drive ratio that's as fast as mine would go. I do not know if they have a fuel cut off or not???

well.. my 04.5 6 speed 4.10's redlines in 6th at 98.... i can take it 200 RPM past redline for short stints... that takes me to 103... BUT then im past MY comfort level AND i run out fo fuel..... once i get my 285/75/17's i will be doing 103 at redline i think.... maybe a TAD bit faster.

I wonder what 3:54 with 315/75/16 and a double O/D from a GearVendor would do :D . Yahooo.................

I was just wondering if the computer shut it down at a certain speed. My old 96 chevy would shut down to a idle at 98 mph. Once the speed fell 1 or 2 mph, it would take off again.
My dodge has 3.55 gears and 305/70 tires on it. I could be wrong but I think it could go well over 105mph before redline.

The GM's do have a fuel cut off at 96/98 MPH but I have not heard of a CTD with one yet ???
When the GM Vortech V-8's came out in 1996 I bet a buddy of mine that I could out run his new Chevy with a 350 Vortech with my 1990 Toyota pick up with a 4 cyl. 22RE . Naturally he agreed to the challange and we went to a lonely stretch of interstate and wound them out for many miles - I can't explain how frustrated he got when his truck would not go past 96 MPH and the Toyota caught up to him and past him......... :D

I had a friend of mine that had a 96 chevy car. We went outside of town on a long stretch of highway and race. Both of our vehicles shut off at the same speed, she'd past me and shut off and I'd past her and shut off. That when on and on several times. It was pityful :doah:

After reading this post I had to get out on the freeway and see what the 12v would do. With 4.10's it tacked out at 85mph and 2700rpm unloaded on flat ground. I wish I had 3.55's or 3.73's.

I don't even understand why 4.10's were even offered. Especially with a 12v that is governed not as high as the 24v. I even think it was dumb for Dodge to go with 3.73's and stop using the 3.54's in the 3rd gens.

I don't know the answer but I would think that since they defuel to keep from turning to many rpm's that they would not need to shut off till it slowed down a few mph but it would just quite accelerating.
