Will a Superchips programmer that came from an '00 7.3 work on a '96 7.3?

Also, I can get it for $100. Good deal or not? I'm trying to get a little more gas mileage with it.

EDIT: Upon further reveiw of the unit, it says it's for 94-03 7.3 engines. It is called the Superchips MAX Microtuner. Anybodt had any experience with this setup? Worth the $100. Can I expect to get additional HP, Torque, and fuel mileage. I'm mainly looking for mileage at the moment.

I would spend the 100 bucks and install it. You should get a little better mpg
and more performance. Just be carefull till you install a set of gauges.
If your egt's get real high it will do a lot of damage. You will also have to take a pic of the smoke screen you let out of the pipe.

Well, I hooked it up last night in the Hi-Perf setup. HUGE DIFFERENCE!! Only went about 25 miles, but very noticable. I plan on changing it to the ecomy setting this evening as that's why I bought it. BTW, I do have a boost & EGT gauge. The EGT's weren't really any higher than normal. I figure that'll change when I get in the mountains.

If it came out of a 96 it is prob the older two stage downloader, still a good buy for a $100, I have had customers return them to superchip and get them upgraded to the newer 3 stage.
