I'm so excited and jittery, the dealer just called and said that he has a VIN number and the build date was yesterday, which means it will hit the line sometime this week. Should be less than a month now until delivery.:D

Congrats, was it a Boy or a Girl? :D

Being as that it's mechanical in nature, I'm sure that it's female.:D
Cool beans, Shaggy. Mine is built, it's just sitting waiting for a ride. Hoping to have it in two weeks. ;)

Thats got to be driving you two bonkers waiting for your truck to show up. I went half nuts just trying trying to find the right used truck. :o

Yeah, but getting the exact truck I want with absolutely no compromises is going to be a great feeling too.:D

Estimated delivery date is next Tuesday!:pimp:
Unfortunately because of my long commute and the fact that the dealer is 45 minutes from my house, I'll probably have to wait until the weekend to go pick it up. I would take a day off to go get it, but I need my wife to drive me to get it and to have her sign so her name is on the title, and she doesn't get as much vacation as I do.

The wait really is a pain in the ass, my old man's F250 is being built this week, scheduled for delivery Mar 21. I cant wait to go pick it up, despite the fact that its a gasser.

Yeah, it's starting to get to me, even though it's only been 5 weeks and they said it would be 8.
I'm excited to see it; it's a new color for this year, I've only seen one other one this color in person and I've never seen one this color without the tan accent on the bottom, either in person or in pictures. I think it's gonna look cool.:D Still not thrilled about the tan interior, but what's a guy gonna do? At least the wood looks better with tan as opposed to grey.:o

What color?
Shaggy
03-09-2005, 06:48 PM
It's called Dark Stone Metallic. It's a greyish brownish pearly sort of color. I really hope that it's not so brown that people say stuff like "oh your truck is the brown one, right?" That's the only thing I was worried about with it...:o
It looks more brown in the pic than in real life... I hope... It's been awhile.:o

Oh, I see you ordered a brown one...

Hey, I can't say anything, mine is "white". About as unimaginative as it gets. But this is the "Valley of the Sun" and with 115*+ temps in the summer, the cooler the better, even though it really doesn't help inside temps all that much. The real reason is that it does not show dirt or "Arizona Pinstripes" and it's easy to touch up. And I actually do like the way it looks, so it's all good I guess...

This is closer to what it looks like in person...

On a related note, does the 550 start the 10 lug hubs or is that a conversion?
Shaggy

I see a Ford logo on the center cap of that wheel, so I'd assume it's stock.:o

Yeah, the flash of the camera kind of washes out the badge, so don't know if it is a 550 or 650, my guess is 650 but not sure?
Shaggy
03-09-2005, 11:20 PM
No, the 650 is when it goes to the really big truck with the gas tanks under the doors.
I looked into it, the F550 does come with 10 lug wheels.

The 450's and 550's are 10 lug factory. That is a really nice color shaggy!

Why didn't you just order a 550? :D
Shaggy
03-09-2005, 11:29 PM
I think that the 450s are still 8 lug, but with 19.5" wheels. Could be wrong...
Steve, the 550 would have run probably more like $50k out the door, and I'd still have to have the frame shortened and have a pickup box put on it.

Yeah, it does look cool. Congrats.
Ford offering the 450 and 550 as "consumer grade" working trucks just makes me want to b***h slap GM for not offering anything to compete. Of course their standard response line is "TopKick", yeah right. Ugly as crap, too stinking big, and gets the DOT looking too close at you.

I agree

I'm spending my money and not someone else's.:D
I'd also have to pay alot higher weight fees to the DMV, to the tune of probably $500+ a year...
Anyways, the F350 dually will do everything I want it to anyways, so it's cool.waytogo

Did GM drop the C3500HD? That was supose to be equal to the F450.
I STILL don't have mine. It's not even on the rail car yet.

Even if they still make it, try getting it in anything other than white with a bench seat and vinyl floors, I don't think they make them with any comfort options. Also doesn't come in 4wd.

Hmmm, not sure. I seem to recall having read something about it but had forgotten since I haven't seen or heard anything more. And if Shaggy is right, that still does not compete on anything other than capacity.
