Here's my story and I'm sticking to it: I'm married with two boys (8 and 5). Wife and kids love wheeling and camping as much as I do. Jeep has four seats. Good fit.
One day I realize that it's been more than a month since I've seen the tampon wrappers in the wastebasket in the bathroom. "Honey", I say "How late are you". "Four days" says a woman whose cycle is down to the hour.
Oops. "What are we gonna do now?" I say.
"Go buy a tow rig" says the wife. "Someone always has an open seat in rig for the trail, but getting to the trail is the problem".
My current truck and commute vehicle (only a 4 mile commute thank god) is a standard cab '91 F250. It's gonna go, and I am going to get a new truck. I came to this site to learn more. Here's where I stand:
1 ton diesel with a manual tranny. I don't think I have to justify the diesel preference here, and the manual tranny because I just don't trust automatics. Sorry folks, but I just don't. My F250 is on its third one. I've been driving 10 and 13 speed manuals in big rigs for many years and I don't mind shifting.
I'm leaning towards Dodge because I know Cummins and they have always served me well. Feel free to try to convince me otherwise.
I have financing in place and I'm ready to buy. I just have not found the right truck. The stock of '05 trucks is shrinking fast, and my local dealer's quote on a special order '06 was about 4 grand higher than the '05. I'll have to wait until they hit the lots to make a deal.
So that's my story and I'm sticking to it.
BTW, I recognize many of your user names from a few different 4x4 boards. I go by "IBROCUN" there.
