6.2L Cylinder not firing..whats the cause?

So what will cause a diesel cylinder not to fire.

Glow plug(please explain) i thought they only ran when you started the truck up?
Plugged injector
bad valve???
low compression?

how can i check these easily?

Glow plugs. I can pull one out and look at it?
Injector?
valve-pull the head?
compression test....

thanks for your help. I will try and play with it tonight and see what i come up with!

I am not sure if the 6.2 had injectors or used a throttle body type injection (I really have no idea). but if it does then that or a bad valve could be the culprit. try a compression test and a leak-down test and see what you come up with.

good luck!

EDIT: I just re-read your post, the glow plugs shouldnt cause this, but if you have never changed them then it wouldnt hurt to do it anyway.

I would do a compression test and maybe a leakdown test, and pull that injector and have it tested at a local diesel injection shop.
