I just got a F650 for use on my farm and am thinking about hauling trailers for a local dealer. I know insurance can be a profit killer and was wondering if I can self insure any, or is it illegal to do any self insuring? I would bobtail 400 miles, then pick up about $30k in trailers for the return trip. Can I get only liability insurance, or skip full coverage on the truck? I know it will be more than the $20/month for farm truck insurance but for 1 trip a week it won't be economical to pay thousands/year in insurance.
