I live in Michigan and have thought about putting straight pipes on but I am not sure how the truck will run in the winter,I know when it gets cold out my Harley doesnt run good with straight pipes can anyone tell me how their truck runs in the cold weather with straight pipes.
I don't know what strait pipes sound like on the 7.3, but on my Duramax, it sounded like sh!t. It sounded good in the cab, but when I heard what it sounded like when my wife took off in it, I went and had a strait through muffler put on it. It won't sound as good a a cummins will. Just my opinion. You may like it.
How are yall straight piping it? I wanted to do this but when I look under there, it looks like you would have to have a piece bent into a "z" shape unless you run it straight out the back.. Maybe I should clarify, I want to just remove my muffler and use the extisting tail pipe and hangers. I've got some 3 1/2" exhaust from another 7.3 that had a 5" exhaust installed. Or would it be possible to cut the muffler in two, gut it, and weld it back up?
ive made those mufflers before... they are a pain in the ass to cut apart. it would be easier to just put some regular strait pipe in
