Put my truck on a scale today and it weighed in at 9,540lbs. Seems a little high to me. Anyone else weigh their truck.
My 06 F550 flatbed with toolboxes weighs in at 9900 lbs. I can haul about another 8000 lbs on top of this. My truck is max'd out at 17895 lbs.
9200 lbs is the GVWR of your GMC, probably weighs about 6200 lbs if it's gas, 65-6600 lbs if it's diesel. My truck weighs 6800 lbs. I used to own an 01 F350 Supercab 4X4 longbed and later an 02 F350 Crewcab 2WD longbed dually, both trucks with a 7.3 PSD & a 6-speed. Both trucks weighed about 7350.
my 97 FSuperduty with single rears weighs in at 11,900 on a cat scale for big rigs. it was loaded pretty good with tools and whatnot in the toolbox and i had my 5th wheel hitch in too. i thought that was nuts. Big-D the camo kid
This is what it says on my door sill 9,200lbs. I know this since N.C. does not require emissions for anything other 8,500 lbs.
Like I said, that's the GVWR (Gross Vehicle Weight Rating), NOT what the empty truck weighs. My truck's GVWR is 9800 lbs yet it only weighs about 6800 lbs.
The truck in my sig weighs just a tad over 8400lbs with me in it, a full load of fuel and the crap I normally carry around. Yours would probably be a bit heavier just from the beefed up suspension/frame/etc... that I am guessing goes with the higher GVWR of the newer models. Add that plus the air compressor/tank/hose, etc... in your sig and I would say it isn't all that far off. All those goodies add weight real quick!!
I was under 9K when I went on the scales last time I think it was like 8,858 of some odd combos of eights.
I took off my tool box this morning to take the truck into the dealer. That box has to weigh over 200lbs alone. There is alot of extras under the truck. Sure is great having all those tools with me.
I myself want to add a compressor, welder, fuel tank and a gooseneck for the SD as well as going for a Rancho Air Shocks and Firestone Air Bags both with in cab adjusability plus a headache rack, slideable rear rack and bush guard with winches front and rear.I know its a bit extreme and I will have to re gear her for the added weight further taking away my current mileage along with the weight from the loads towed I honestly think makeing anything with a tow package shouldnt have any less than 4.10's or maybe in my case 4.30's 3.73 is a joke for any honestly hard towing especially for a diesel truck my gasser does better over the long run I assume on that note.
I'm just glad mine brought 4.10's in the rear. REally makes a difference when towing. I love my setup. I couldn't care less about the trucks weight.
For a time I was all about 4.56's and lockers front and rear to tackle the Power Wagon out there also how come less folks gripe about the PW's not having an oil burner than say my SD not having a 6.0.That just plain isnt reliable in most cases verses my 5.4 thats totally reliable and got a much better consumers report stating it as the best pick up Ford has made in years as far as value and reliability.Oh the Cummins wont fit due to the sway bar/disconect issue but I have heard of and seen one Cummins powered PW.
06 F350 DRW 4x4 Powerstroke (towboss 4.30 gears) lariat 8340 lbs with full fuel, no driver. Included is: lineX bed mat Torklift hitch and tiedowns for camper Probably 8150 without that stuff. GVWR 13000
