So I just got an E-mail from XM saying that they and Sirius are merging. They said now that you will no longer need to chose what talk shows or sports that you want to listen to b/c it will all be one network. The merger should be complete by the end of 2007.

I figured it was only a matter of time till this happend.

I got the same message from Sirius. I'm not holding my breathe until it goes thru. Too much red tape to even guess of an end date.

I read somewhere that the recivers are different the frequincies or something. Meaning that the sirius cant pick up xm and visa versa. Anyony know if that is true? So Id assume that if it all works out and the FCC lets this go thru then we are all going to need to go get dual recivers, so we can listen to both.

My 06 came with Sirrus and I opted not to pay for another year. Sound quality was not the greatest and neither was the music selection. I liked XM alot better.

I believe they may try and maintain the venues as they are. Same as Dish and Direct did it. Eventually, one system (sirius or xm) would be selected, but until then I believe the two systems would need to be seperate and continually maintained. I paid for a lifetime subscription to Sirius. I would hope they made good on that if the Sirius system were to go away...

we still have to see if the goverment will let them merge, as far as i know it would create a monopoly on that market if they combined

Ya because I thought there was a contract saying that they were not alowed to do this because of monopoly. Well, they both need to do something cause they are both loosing money!
