Anyone know who and where I can find a Load E trailer tire for 15" rims? I keep overheating and breaking belts on the load Ds.

Carlisle Tires makes them. I'm running them on a couple trailers now with great results. They were a hard find, I think there might be one more.

I called my tire place today they said there are none. He had some marathons in a load d. I guess I need to upgrade to 16" wheels and tires but then I may have to relocate or modify axle stance and location for clearance.

    no you wont
just make sure the tire has the same overall height as when you were running previously, the rim size wont matter

I would think your local tire shop would be able to order the above for you, but if for some reason they can't there's got to be places on the internet you can buy them. Ordering them on the internet would sorta be a pain in the ass, but then again, so would having someone order them for you, as would changing wheels when you don't have too.

Well thanks guys for the info. I found it cheeper to just buy new rims and run my old dually tires. 235/85/16s. I got five 16"x7" rims from summit for $250. I've got about 20 235/85/16s that have decent tread lying around the shop. I've got a dually running these, my brother inlaw's dually is also running this size, as is my father on his dually, and my father inlaw's dually. So it just came out to be cheeper running all these recently removed tires with new 16" rims than buying a new set of 15s. Not to mention that Load "e"s are abundant in 16s.

except they are truck tires not trailer specific tires

truck runing truck tires = good
trailer running trailer tires = good
mix and match is not so good

If you can fit 16s and have a good source it's a great option. I couldn't fit 16s under the fender so it wasn't an option for me.

The ST (trailer tires) have a much stiffer sidewall to handle the constant sideways load of turning and skidding the tire. However, there are COUNTLESS people that run the LT dually tires (235s 16s) on their tag, gooseneck, 5th wheel..... with no problems at all. For the cost, and availability of the 235s, it makes sense to run them if you ask me.
