Anyone else use their towrig to haul the original 4WD horsepower?? I mean horses... anyone else here ride horses? I trail and rodeo and in my past life rode performance and 4-H horses.
I have towed a horse before, he was kicking the whole time, seems he doesn't like being in a trailer, I was going real slow also as not to piss him off but that didn't seem to matter.
we show arabian's all over from TX to NC to FL and all in between. and manage 2 - 3 shows a year:doah: I also pull slack for the trainer that has our horses we have a 4 horse sooner the trainer lets me pull his 6 horse sundowner (B/C he doesn't like to load his ford that much; he has put two trannys in it in 175k miles)imp: I love CTDimp:
kool we show region 9 , 12, 13 i think we are looking to goto Canadian Nationals also I am learning to love the arabians I grew up in the BIG A and rode King bred horses at home punching cattle the arabs are a little more flighty at time than the 1/4's but I am coming around to them. "Pretty is as pretty does, but pretty does a lot!"
See now, I have control issues and riding on an atv gives me the vapors, lol. I guess at least with horses there is another mind to negotiate with as opposed to an inanimate piece of machinery that only obeys the laws of physics. waytogo
im not a horse fan. i would own one, and treat it well... but it would never get ridden. i towed 2 retired race horses and a pony from San Diego to Alb NM in 18 hours... they were happy to be out when we got there... Grant
My wife rides horses, but she doesn't drive, so I get to/have to tow them for her when she needs to. It is not too bad, except for waiting for them to load. A friend once told me, "There really is no comparing a 4 wheeler to a horse. A horse does not run out of gas or get a flat tire, or throw a rod and leave you stranded." I countered with, "But it could get injured, or toss you off or anything else." I was never convinced one was better than the other, except, I have never had to beg a 4 wheeler to get in the trailer.
Looks like we are going to TX and KY and to Canadian Nationals!!!!!!waytogo opcorn: OH no there goes my summer and my money$$$$$$$$ But my wifeee is happy and that is all that matters!!
Whoo hooo.... gas, food, hay, entries, stall rent, program ad, gate fee, and you cant go to nationals without a spanking new outfit!! Aint no poor like horse poor. LOL
