If you could get a dually, would u? Not alot of people can afford a dually and some people just dont want one because it wont fit inside the garage.

My other two diesel trucks(F250, 3500CTD) were SRWs. I bought this dually because I need it for heavy towing. Some guys buy them because 1)they like the look and 2) they're rich.:D

If you want an all-around truck for a daily driver and tow rig when you need it, you can't go wrong with a 2500CTD Megacab 4X4.

why the hell would YOU want a dually?
duallies are gay unl;ess you need the wieght handling of the tires.
more expensive parts, more tires(they get eaten off quicker to on a dually) and they suck in the snow.

burnedbronco is exactly right. I've been driving a dually for fifteen years and unless you need the weight handling, stick to singles. The duallies look good but they bust themselves constantly. I take delivery of 3/4T this month. It'll handle all the weight I'll ever put in my 16' stock gooseneck.

why not? a GN is a GREAT trailer, not matter how big or small. offroad it outclasses ANY other trailer hitch out there. on road, i think its just as good for most applications

Uh, thats not a very brite statement.....

Duallys are more stable with bigger, heavier loads and usually GCWR is higher on DRW equipped models.

It is a FACT that a dually will handle a large heavy trailer, or more unstable load, BETTTER than what an SRW can handle. Simply because duals are more stable.

I've got three dually 1 ton pickups and two SRW 1 ton's.... I know a little bit about the difference in styles....

How many SRW MD or HD trucks do you see on the road? If the duals were "just" for looks, they sure have fooled alot of big rig boys for a lot of yrs....

haha very true. DRW trucks can and will pull a load more stable in the wind rain or snow over anything. because it is wider and less weight per tire resulting in better weight distribution. duallies suck in the snow empty but kick it in 4x4 especially if you have a diesel the weight of the motor will barely allow the front tires to spin. and duallies really arent that much more in cost up front. but more down the road with maintenance

I would suggest a dually if you pulling any 5th wheel or bumper pull over 12k...better stability/stronger rearend in most cases...

    extra maint. cost

With the exception of having to replace 2 more tires, I don't see where there is much, if any more cost to maintain a dually over a SWR truck. If you look at my sig, I just retired my old dodge with 272K miles on her. Other than tires, the only repairs I had to do was the same as someone with a SRW. Batteries, alternator, and 2 track bars and that was about it. Had to have the tranny gone thru once at just shy of 200K, but that's on par with any other dodge. That truck spent most of those miles towing too. I hope to get that kind of service out of my new tow rig.....Kong

thats freakin awesome i hear a lot about axle issues w/ a dually from people but they may have the tires loaded wrong with pressure and cause bearing failures and crap (uneven tire pressure, inners lower than outers). but if you know what your doing i think dually is the way to go!

    DRWs have their purpose...
    - a payload that requires the higher GAWR afforded by the extra tires (and sometimes heavier-duty axle)
    - the load has a high COG.

IMO, there's only a price difference when buying new off the dealer lot. (talking pickups here)
