Coolant

Im lookin for a little advice on Coolant... its that 50k change time and i wld like to know if i have to stay w/the dodge "red stuff" or can i change to another brand.... if so what wld be your suggestion opcorn:

you can get the red at any petboys. just make sure it has the same api standers. or just call cummins and get it from them.

I just use 2 gallons of Napa low silicate antifreeze, 2.75 gallons of purified water, and a bottle of Napacool, and a bottle of Redline Water Wetter.

 

wow!!! thats some recepie ANYONE have some comments good or bad on the EVANS NPG+ coolant??? the stuff is $32/gal, but needs no replacement???

 

Is that the waterless coolant stuff? Not sure myself.... I just go with my recipe.

 

What year truck? I'am assuming a third gen since this is the forum for them.

They use a H.O.A.T. ethylene type anti-freeze. Zerex makes it and NAPA sells it. Or you could buy it at the dealership for alot more change.

 

Not to hijack, but HOAT coolant isn't anything special - it's still got sodium in it.. Just like IAT / OAT coolants do ..the 6.1 SRT hemis are boiling the sodium out of the HOAT coolant, and causing all kinds of grief.. you can check on chargerforums.com and see all the fuss.
