So what does this one do that the prodigy does not? And don't just say the user selectable color choice....I'm looking for a functional feature or something

It is specifically designed to work seamlessly with Electric over Hydrolic brakes (like those found on big goosenecks)

Oh, ok thanks waytogo. I didn't realize that electric over hydraulic needed a different design. You learn something new every day!

one of our trailers has elec/hyd brakes and with the prodigy controller they operate very abruptly. It is not smooth and seamless like normal brakes. The brakes work and will stop the trailer but it is a very jerky process. I think that the P3 uses a different algorithim to make them work smoother.

Sorry guys just had to comment on this post. The Prodigy sends a three second pulse to for its diagnostic check. This confused alot of the early electric over hydraulic units. By selecting the off switch on the P3 control, you are turning off the diagnostics. It is a nice unit. LCD moniter, on/off hydraulic switch, and mounting. But it is not as revolutionary as the Prodigy was at its time.

So those of you that have it..... is it better than the prodigy? My brake controller is failing so I need to replace in the next two or three weeks and this one looks like a good option. I am just trying to decide if it is worth the extra money over the prodigy.
