Have a Dodge 05 3500 Cummins Auto that mainly sees the highway. I do pull a car trailer with a Jeep to the mountains a few times a year and also haul a stock trailer about the same amount. I am looking to increase the MPG with little horsepower gains. Looking at the Power Puck from Diabosport, Bank's Bullet, Painless Wiring's Striker, Edge's EZ Towing and Granatelli. Now also hearing about Smarty. Any advice? Not really looking for big HP numbers. Kevin in Kissimmee
I have the Smarty and really like it as it leaves no footprint, want to keep my warreny for a little longer, you have your choice of several HP/TQ settings.
My vote goes 4 the Quadzilla XZT. I saw an average of 2 mpg increase and a nice boost in power. plus you get boost fooling built in unlike most of the others.
does the smarty do anything els as in what can all be programmed into it?...is it worth the money? are the gains worth it? im in the process of wanting to get something but i have no paticence...and im leaning twards the smarty cause of the no footprint thing...
You can also program in the correct tire size etc., gives easy to understand desc in addition to the factoy codes if any are triggered.
The Smarty is a great upgrade formost anyone, from stock to heavily modded. Smooth power, and several different power levels available. 30hp, 60hp, 90hp, 130hp and 170hp, all available with or without additional timing. On a stock truck with an auto you should run the 60hp program with timing, for the least amount of damage to the transmission. 6 speed guys can got to the 90hp setting with timing before worrying about clutch slip. The power puck is a great unit at a great price. The EZ is a little spendy for what you get, as is the Banks. The Painless I have no experience with, and the Quadzilla is a great unit.
so about 90 hp with timeing is about the max you'd suggest going without haveing to worry about breakage? what will that do to the rpm range on a 6speed?
