like I said i think my truck has a 5.9 in it, i threw the window sticker away and i think it said 6.7 and the dealer told me 6.7, but it doesn't look physically like a 6.7... meaning it doesn't have the plastic molding piece in front, and i just took my intake apart to remove the baffling, as is explained in here, and its completely different? what gives? is there any tell tale sign that i can physically look for to tell which engine i have?
well i just answered my own question, there is an id tag... here that says it is indeed a 5.9 NOT a 6.7! that confirms i was duped by the dealership.... so now my next question is, what do I do?
Take it back if you really wanted a 6.7. They have copies of all the paperwork on the truck they sold you. If it says 6.7 and you ended up with a 5.9 then the contract is VOID! No maybe not void but you know what I mean. I think you haven plenty of ground to stand on. What all do you want to do with the truck? If it were me, I would keep the 5.9.... Some guys guys claim the 6.7 will eat its older brothers but thats hearsay....
after what i have read here i am gonna keep the truck, ill see what the dealership can do for me, because it said 6.7 on the window sticker, but i don't feel like being DC's guinea pig on the 6.7, so in alot of ways, im glad i got duped. lol
its a thousand plus more in Canada (but we get reemed on the price of vehicles anyway). Its easy to tell the difference between the two motors. The plactic shield you point out is one. The EGR mechanism is the other. That's the silver module at about 11:00 to your plastic piece, the grey piece down around 3 or 4 and that silver tube with the black braided insulation running across the bottom of it in the picture. I would have preferred a 5.9 to avoid all the emissions stuff and greater availablity of aftermarket parts but my timing sucked and had to get a 6.7 to get the truck I wanted. I'm perfectly happy with the 6.7 though and tuners are already starting to appear. I just cringe at the thought of ever having to replace the exhaust though. When the time comes it might be cheaper to deal the truck. LOL
Holy crap... the dealer dummies labeled a 5.9 truck as a 6.7 and then followed through with the sale as a 6.7??rotfl I've always said 99% of dealers don't have a clue about the vehicles they are selling, but that is just too funny, because it's so dumb on their part. I don't know how good you are at confrontations and acting or what not, but I'd make a semi federal case about the huge mistake, but somehow incorporate that you have gotten comfortable with the current truck and if they could just throw in items or later services to compensate for their dummieness. Oh....and get some of your money back, the 6.7 costs more IIRC!
This is why I never throw anything from the sale away. I have a folder for each truck - window sticker, contract, wiaver this form, don't want that form, ect. If anything like this were to happen, there is the info.
GO back and talk to the sales manager. Maybe you can get some free stuff from the dealer for misleading you. Like free set of guages the dealers are now selling. At least they do around here. Pete
