Hello to all!!!! I hope you have a lot of patiences. I am very green to Diesel trucks. I have towed for many years with a Dodge 2500 5.9 Super charged 360 Magium in its latter years the transmission had it in the shop alot. Found a 2000 Ford F250 with a 7.3 PowerStroke engine. Now I am a little unnerved because I never had a diesel and I have heard from so many different people do this or oh no don't do that My first towing trip is coming up and I have a case of the nerves. Some say tow in over drive some say don't some say drop to low two when going up hills some say you do not need to do that others say watch your tach do not over tach it. I an just so confused. Well Here I am trying to learn as much as I can. any help is what I need no matter how much or how little.

You didn't mention if you had any guages, like EGT or trans temp. Assuming you have an auto trans?

    No Gauges yet

No there are neither of those gauges yet. I am trying to find some at a good price.

Well being you don't have guages. Towing in OD on flat ground your should be ok, when climbing hills and you loose rpms, your egts are going to start climbing. I would say roughly below 1700 rpm, you might want to drop out of OD to be on the safe side with the EGT's. JMHO

    Welcome!

I bought the Edge Juice unit, It gives you a digital display of all the vital gauges you would need, with out the clutter of having 5-7 gauges all over the place. I have noticed pulling my 10K lb boat and 20' enclosed trailer,I've noticed the egt get hot quick with the stock exhaust pulling up small hills. Definatly looking for a turbo back exhaust and a 14CM exhaust housing.
