Motor starts then shuts off

    My dads excursion is having problems. It has a 7.3 and starts up but then shuts off. None of the gauges in the dash are working and the battery light comes on. The batteries have a good charge on them.
    Does anyone have suggestions on what may be wrong,the truck has been running fine until now.

    yep he is right i got mixed up with the on of thing

    the CPS is a small butten type of switch just under the water pump 10mm it cost from 150 to 255 i am told it will take only 1 hr to swap some people even get spares for the long road trips

    i know your next ??? :cool: well some people get 80k or 150 even more but i plan a new one for me at 100k just to be safe

    wiring shorted out in steering column

    Turned out to be a short inside the steering column the wires for the overdrive disconnect on the shifter rubbed thru and shorted out the truck.
    Thanks for your input guys,I thought it was the crank sensor also.
