I was watching Xtreme 4X4 the other day and they were putting a PTO Generator in a rig. My question is do they make a PTO for an 2005 Dodge and how hard would it be to put it in?

You have PTO covers on the transmission and you can program the truck for a PTO, thats all the high idle in the Smarty is, PTO control. I don't see why you can't put one one, I just don't know how expensive it would be.

It was running off of the transmission. They were using an allison tranny and I thought that if you could get one of the welder/generators you could do both and have everything under the truck not taking up room in the bed, just a panel in the side and a couple of cable reels for welding leads.

You're talking about the one they're bolting up on their insane '08 dually for WD40 right?
I thought it was interesting when they said chevy recently yanked out that particular gear drive in the new Allison tranny's just to save a couple bucks... literally. :)

Anyways... here's the page with the specs, scroll down and you can click on the company's name that makes that power box...

That's the one that I was talking about thanks for the link, I notice that they don't offer it for the Dodge like most of us are using on a daily basis.:doah:

I was looking at that too. Love the idea, still couldn't find a price though. Their site does that that it's now an option on the allison, you have to specify that you want the PTO ability when ordering.

haha, most work trucks being a dodge, what a joke.............
dodge has the smallest amount of work trucks of the big 3 out serving as a company owned work truck.

I was talking about on this site, I drive a F350 Superduty at my regular job (Its always in the shop) Lower mileage on all 10 here and then my Dodge and 3 other guys Dodges and 30 times the problems same work though. I'll stop my rant since this is not Brand Wars. The main thing that I was pointing out is that they only offered it mainly for GM products and even Ford was secondary, nothing for Dodge or even the (full size rotfl) Toyota's and the like.
