I like how you tucked the exhaust up next to the frame rail. Maximum ground clearance.

The entire belly of the truck will be one GIANT, perfectly flat skidplate..... something like 60" wide (rockslider to rockslider) and maybe 48" long (Front to back).... the only lingering concern about this exhaust setup is the amount of heat that it's going to put into the floor itself. I'm planning to ceramic coat the entire exhaust system (headers, piping, mufflers) and then probably use heat-resistant wrap on top of that in certain areas. Maybe a few strategic heat shields as well.... :thinking:

That's quite a bit of skidplate. Though I predict it will only be perfectly flat until the first time it contacts something on the trail. Are you planning to run trails with this rig? Or has it consumed enough of your time that you would be babying it when it finally gets done?

I haven't done a lot of research on materials yet, but Rene (tRusty) mentioned some kind of bizarro steel variant that is reportedly VERY strong and much more durable than a typical mild-steel that I've used everywhere else. Realistically, the skidplate will probably be modular if for no other reason than the fact that a slab of 60" x 48" steel in any practical thickness is going to weigh a couple hundred pounds and I'd never be able to install / remove it my myself for service or repair work. The individual sections could be enhanced with enough vertical ribbing (on the hidden side) that I suspect they will hold up quite well to abuse on the trail.

There is no interest in "babying" this truck once it's finished. I expect I will take some time initially to get some "beauty shots" of the completed vehicle for my scrapbook, but after that it's GAME ON!!!!

Ok I thought I had the stoopid email notification turned off but I guess not, so how do I do it?

I haven't slept more than two hrs. A night for the last 30.
At this point I'm starting to get a little twitchy when my phone buzzes and beeps at me.

Click on your username in the top menu bar and look of "Alert Preferences"

There are literally like 18 different things you can be alerted (or NOT alerted) about based on how you have them set up.

Failing all that, just put your phone (is it an iPhone?) into "Do Not Disturb" mode.....it's the one that looks like a adorable crescent moon. You can flick the lower part of the screen to pull up a small menu screen and find it there. It will block your phone from ringing or buzzing no matter what.


...OK, that's not true. If there is a National Emergency it will still make noise and will probably scare the crap out of you. I got an Amber Alert a couple months ago in the middle of the night and I pooped.

Not sure how to turn them off globally. Still finding my way around this software. I wound up unchecking the "and receive email notifications" box while replying to this thread, and email notifications have ceased entirely. :dunno:

 

FWIW, I still got alerts when I thought I had all of those things turned off. And then I un-signed-up for this thread, and all the messages (for all threads) stopped. :dunno:

 

So now you'll need to Re-Un-Sign-Up??? :rofl:

Hit REPLY......then go into the lower right corner of the reply window and click on "More Options"

You'll see that there are two options at the very bottom:

• Watch this thread
• and receive email notifications

Make sure those are both unchecked.
