I'm going to go with 5" exhaust. There is nearly no performance gain at streetable power levels. It looks better and sounds deeper, thats why I'm going to go with it. I could never tell much of a sound difference between 4" and 5" on the fords though, but I've only heard one strait piped 5" Ford.
There isnt too much of a sound difference from 4-5" if its straight piped. I had a 5" straight pipe that dumped out ahead of the rear wheel on the passenger side of my truck before I converted it to Cummins. It sounded a whole lot better than stock. When I converted to Cummins power, I moved the exhaust to the stock location, but still at 5" and its louder now than it was with the PSD. A 5" exhaust will sound good with the windows down, but still be quiet with the windows up at highway speeds. Plus, itll let that turbo sing a little more.
Every time I see this on a diesel I say "why?" Because, it usually is matched with a sooty black rim and tire.:doah: I don't get it.:doah:
Maybe because I had the parts laying around, so it cost me $0. Or maybe it was because I knew that I was going to have to change the exhaust setup when I installed the Cummins, so there was no point in pissin money away on something that was gonna get changed in the near future.
Oh no, I wasn't trying to give you a bad time about it. Thats a fine idea like in the your case that you just described. I just shake my head when I see guys with the Dodges with the aluminum wheels like me that have them COMPLETELY blacked out with soot.rotfl Then I think it's just dumb when I see lifted Diesels with a nice set of Welds or something and have the back rim completely black. I wonder "why did you spend a chunk of money on an aftermarket rim that is forged aluminum just to powder coat one of the 4 black?"rotfl :doah:
I orderd my 5 inch exhaust to day. It should be here next friday. I could not pass up the deal. Diamond Eye 5 inch exhaust shiped to my door for $385.00. Thats from the turbo back and including the ss tip.
You got a great deal on that exhaust system waytogo Especially shipped. RJF: I did have a black sooty wheel from the original 5" setup:doah: I can only imagine what the wheel would look like now, with a Cummins blowing soot at it
