Yeah, 10K is a lot for a 350, but only if you get in the hills. I'd do a nice exhaust system and maybe a decent intake. Thats about it from what I know. It is what it is, which is a 350. If wanted to spend some money a belt driven or twin screw super charger could give you big block power.

    350 hop up

I agree on intake and exhaust but I would recomend a Superchips programer it has alot of adjustmets (tire size, rear gear, rev limit, and speed limit). The coolest thing is it has a tow mode. Headers would also be a good idea but don't be cheap. Cough up the money for stainless because of high egt's. Good luck with it. I can get you some prices on some parts if you would like. Just let me know.

Not an intake manifold, a good air intake system instead of the stock box. Sounds like you already have a good exhaust.

I don't really like the gas engine chips, which is why I didn't mention them. One thing that I found common with most of them is that they require you to run premium fuel. With the price of fuel I don't think I would give up regular for what? 5-15HP out of reprogramming? For what they cost and the power they give, the chips seem a little expensive vs. how much they actually help. Maybe if you had big tires and needed speedo recalb. etc, then it works for other things and would seem worth it to me.

It sounds like you don't have a whole lot of options left. As far as your bang for the buck, the exhaust should make the most difference and if thats already done and are still looking for more power than I think it's either stroker time or blower time. waytogo

Are you pulling hills or something? My dad's burb with the same motor, just with a 4l60E and 3.73 ratios handles our 7K 27' snowmobile trailer very well, and it's stock. I would think his burb would do fine cruising on flat ground with 10K behind it, if a gooseneck was possible of course.

ya its kind of hilly around hear. the chip/programers are just like you said need prem fuel. and when she drinks 35gal at a sitting that sucks big time. so the only thing i would use it for would be power added and the pay off wouldnt be correct for my wallet.

would the switch to diffrent gears help a bit to the point i would feel it? i have 4.10 14ff now thinking 4.56 or 4.88 but still like me 2300-2500 rpm on the highway at 65-75 mph . the swap to like 4.88 would kill that. but would i feel the kick i want from 4.10 to 4.56? thanks.

Hard to say on the gears....You might feel a little better acceleration loaded from take off but I don't really know how much you will gain in the hills. Depends on where your powerband is compared to the gear ratios in the tranny. The gears may help out a lot, maybe hardly noticable. I don't really have much experience with gear changes like that.

YOu should definantly see a little better acceleration though.

Doing a gear swap would probably cost $500-600.

I don't know how much more speed you are looking for but I would either just settle for it's performance as is, it gets the job done right? Or I might just look for a whole new truck with a BBC or diesel. I know thats a little extreme but you start spending money here and there trying to get 5-maybe 10mph more on a hill....I mean....it might not even cost that much more to find a similar truck with a 454 or 6.5TD.

If I was really attached to the truck I would get a supercharger for it, or settle for what it's got currently.

Talk to Westers Garage dot com. They can burn you a prom that will run regular, all the way up to supreme fuel. I have a '96 as well, but mine is a 4x4 also.
