One of my friends from church has a early '80s Chevy pickup with a Banks turbo-ed 6.2L in it. He recently straightpiped it, and I think it was a massive improvement in the sound. It sounds like a V8 should, IMO.
i wonder how it would sound to take the muffler off and leave the cat on untill i have the money to get a full 5" exhaust. im just worried because i want to run a programmer but i dont want the exhaust to get to hot. what do you guys think? sorry to kinda jack the thred! ryan

alright i edited it, if it wont be to loud ill do it, im just scared to death of the resonation in the cab, my titan was really bad and i dont want to deal with that again. ryan
Speaking directly from experience, don't do it. I straight piped my 05 for about 2 months and got really tired of it. We took several colorado to california trips and it is REALLY loud. I bought a really nice bi-directional muffler from T&J diesel performace on e-bay. http://stores.ebay.com/T-J-Diesel-Performance and am really happy with it. I see they have one right now for $15 plus shipping, I paid $45 for it and that was still a killer deal. I like the fact that it is bi-directional, I have it the louder un-louvered way and it sounds good, no resination. I regularly pull a 16K hay trailer and sounds really good under load and yet keeps my EGT's down.
thanks for letting me know about that. hopefully it will still be there friday when i get payed. i really appreciate the tip. its still 45 with shipping but either way its still a bargain at twice the price. ryan
