I'm in the search for a new trailer I know I want a 20' with a 2' dovetail perfer 2axle brakes. My question is which kind would be better for my 1/2 ton Suburban 350ci a metal one or an aluminum. My thoughts are that an aluminum trailer will be lighter on my truck.

My question is this: is an aluminum lighter than a steel one? I know an aluminum is like twice the price as a steel one. Is there a that much of a difference between the two.
If you had the choice which would you choose?

    Thanks,
    Don

Do they make an aluminum car haulers?
Steel is easier to work with, like adding Drings and spare tire carriers...

I pull an 18+2 steel trailer with a single axle brake behind my 'burb. 350/700r4/208, 3.73 gears... does just fine loaded @ 9k. Is well able to handle more than the GVWR, but I wouldn't recommend it.

for the price, I'd stick with steel. I've beat the crap outta my trailer and have been able to do all the repairs on it myself. had I knocked the lights off an aluminum trailer as many times as I have the steel one I'd have paid out close to $500 in repair fees.

not to mention as Burt said, all the little add-ons are a whole lot easier and the trailer can adapt to what you need it to.
