You can remove the muffler and resonator, that will give you a slight increase in turbo spool and a decent drop in EGT's. There really isn't any free mods to a 24v truck, only the 12v'ers have the free engine mods with the fuel plate and timing. Get an Edge EZ if you want the cheapest way of getting 65/185 more power.

The VA module is $100 less. I am a cheap a$$ so I decided to go with the most bang for the buck. I ordered up some RV275 injectors and the VA box for a total of $650.

Time for a fueling box then.

I like Edge, for a 2nd gen I wouldn't consider anything else, except for maybe a Blue Chips Redline box.:pimp:

yeah I went today and looked at an EDGE comp I decided that is what I'm going to go with. Its supposed to have a total gain of 200hp and 310flbs at max setting.

The Comp will give you 120HP and 350ft lbs of torque over stock at the highest setting, which will drive your EGT's way up. Without an aftermarket clutch you won't be able to use level 4 or 5. After a performance clutch your turbo will limit the power.

The Edge Comp "Hot" is rated at 150 hp on Level 5. Everything else is true. If you want to run it all out there is alot of other stuff that needs fixin first.

If you are referrring to the Drag Comp software upgrade, it does not add any addtional hp over the original 120 hp gain. What it does do is continue full fueling past 2700 rpm and past the governed 3200 rpm limit. The seat of the pants feeling is that you have gained more power but what has actually happened is that the hp curve does not fall off so soon and is extended past it's previous limit.

As to those that say many other things need to be changed before running the Comp, that is not true. I am running the Drag Comp on my 3500 with RV275 sticks AND the stock clutch and have had no problems. I occasionally gross the truck out quite heavy and it never gets babied....all this with a well used stock clutch. I can barely get egt's past 1100* with the Comp on 5x5 on a hard run. I do run 4" exhaust which dropped about 100* egt and the Scotty II intake which was good for another 50* reduction but that is it. Even if I didn't have those extras, the additional 150* would not put the egt's into the danger zone. There are lots of guys running around with bone stock trucks and a Comp that don't have any trouble. However, a high mileage auto tends not to respond quite as well to a cranked up Comp.

    Thanks

Thanks for the education. I am working with a auto trans, so I'm looking at a stronger torque converter. Also I'm told injectors and a stronger lift pump are necessary.

You need both the stronger converter and valve body to go with it. A higher flowing valve body puts more pressure on the all the clutches to help them hold more power. A good performance internal rebuild is going to also be a good idea if your trans has a lot of miles on it.

You don't need bigger injectors with just a comp box. If you have a fuel pressure guage and can monitor your pressure than I would not change the lift pump. A comp by itself can't flow enough fuel to start starving the truck, from what I know.

First of all mine is A hd 5 speed and second I am going with huge injectors for the power. With everything I already bought I am looking at mid 12's.

first post so don't rag too hard. I totally understand the upgrades(chips, intake, exhaust, and whatnot) for towing and better fuel mileage. But I don't know what ya'll speed limits are but here in Texas it's 70 -75 and I think I hit 80 once or twice. Why would I take my truck to the extreme and play hell trying to drive it on the street. I've rode around with buddys who had 12 sec cars and trucks I found no satifaction in riding around in something that the cops follow around waiting for you to get stupid. I know with the comp you can change your settings but the novel of parts you just listed aren't something you can turn off. I might do the injectors (might) I am looking at a Edge comp that will be about it for me besides like valve body or something to improve trans pressures, cooling or driveability. I bought my truck to pull trailers and to have something I can trust to get me there (and something I can sort of trust the wife in) Thats just my 2 cents as I said guys first post be gentle. To each his own but damn warn me if you come down to my neck of the woods. Oh and I understand going to the track and winning competions but this crap racing redlight to redlight is BS. I'm through talking ya'll gonna run me off if I keep putting in my 3 cents.

Maybe you bought yours for towing well so did I and mine will out tow the best of them. And yes I take mine to the track but If an LS1 pulls up next to me at the light and thinks he is hot **** then Ill blow his doors off. But maybe that is just what I want to do with my truck and frankly I dont think your input is needed. I make my own decisions.

did you even read it? I said I understand the towing improvements but after reading your reply I realize that I offended you and I apologize. Let me also say that you don't know me and don't know if I was injured or lost a love one to street racing. I do understand you anger though, again sorry I peed on your fire. But let me leave you with this thought, how many close calls have you had this month by people racing around town? I have had close to 5 and the month ain't over yet. Better yet I live in a small town compared to places I have lived in the past. That ain't very good odds.

I'll owe you a beer if you get 12.99 or better out of a manual shifted truck!!
I had on 03 6 speed with 400hp and got a 16 flat in the 1/4 and I know how to shift it. You'll be in the top 1% in the country if you get below 13 secs!rotfl
I think you need twins and more fuel myself.:stir:
