Been towing with stacking the dodge. I have almost everything to do it laying around the shop, just gotta buy a 4" downpipe. There are some old stacks we had. I would cut them into slash cut instead of the curved tips. They would sit about 4" or so above the cab. The pic these are just zip tied to my antennas so not straight or even by any means. Comments? Thanks
Stacks have their pros and cons. I originally wanted stacks, but stacks really make the truck look like a sore thumb to cops and I think it can also look just a little over the top. I went way to much with the "over the top" stuff with my last vehicle and don't plan on making the same mistake, with stacks being one of those kinds of mods. They look cool, sound great, and give the best smoke show but I prefer seeing them on other trucks, not mine. if you like it, then go with them. I'd go angle cut, no curve.
to me they are a waste of bed space, espicially with tool boxes, and fuel tanks alrady taking up space. i think duals on a oviously turbo truck is gay, just do a single like the old school truckers.
I already have a toolbox that sits in the front of my bed. It is from a mini pickup so it would fit between my old roll bar in my 4X. It has like 8" gap on each side of it between the bed rails. I would just cut the front bottom of it and reverse it to put a channel or step in it so the box covers the crossover exhaust pipe.
What looks "gay" is when a guy only has a single pipe coming up through the bed and on one side. There is no difference between having dual stacks or a single, you cut one hole in the center of the bed where the single pipe from the turbo comes in and it "y's" out in the bed and to the twin stacks. Mnorby, Sounds like you want to do it, then do it!
we only have one exhuast coming out of the turbo? the duals are just so it looks cool to some people. all the(edit) normal day cab semi's and regular strait trucks just have one stack, with the blingy people wanting 2.
We both know how a turbo's exhaust works, and we both know that neither having a single out or having it split into dual outs makes any difference at all. Nearly every guy that drives an OTR truck wants twin stacks. They like the way it looks. VERY few truck drivers and owners would actually prefer a single muffler and stack. If you don't believe me I'd be happy to take a poll with all 14 of our OTR employees that work for our trucking company. I already know what the poll would say...14 to zip.:stir: Thats why nearly every owner operator rig out there has twin stacks.
Stack it! I built a twin stack set up for a guy that has an 89 F250 with a Cummins in it and that thing is a blast to drive. I was suprised when the windows are up because it's no louder than a rear exit straight pipe. I had my doubts weather to build a set for my truck but now I'm definetly stacking my ride. The Ford has miter cuts like you want and they are bitchin! Like RJF said, they do grab attention. I'm gonna' build a set of black straight cuts so they will be stealth mounted right next to the headache rack.
all the drivers in our fleet of trucks want us to twin stack their trucks. They are just day cabs but twins definately look better... IMO. More power to ya if you like the single. If I stack it it is either both or none.
A pickup truck with stacks says to me "when I grow up I'm gonna be a big truck". Just say no to stacks.waytogo
IMHO, Stacks look cool. I had wanted to go with the stacks, but I couldn't figure out how to keep the tonneau cover from melting, and still seal the bed. The covers only purpose is to keep prying eyes off the fifth wheel hitch and keep it from getting rusted. Plus maybe it help with the mileage. If it works for you, go for it.....
I think it would look kool stacked, or traditional, but with only one stack isnt too kool, but , that my opinion. I kinda like them curved instead of slash cut. But either way you do it, Im sure it will be fine and look extremely nice.waytogo
Stacks look cool, but not on my truck. Sort of the testosterone pumped equivalent of the rice-boy coffee can exhaust if you ask me.
I like stacks on everyone else's trucks. I almost want them for mine, but they always seem to flashy. IMO, look stock, go fast...
Thats all it is. Like ive been saying, diesels are the new ricer's, and stacks are just the new fart pipe. But hey, its not my truck, do what you want to it. If you like the look, run it.
i will be single stacking my 04.5. pass side. the box i have is a side load under rail trailer box. i love it. there is about 8 inches between it and the bed rail where i can put a stack. i dont like duals. the stack i am getting is a 5 inch inlet on a 6 inch stack. so removing the kitty, and installing a nice muffler will all happen at once. i dont like chrome, and some day will have the chrome removed and then it will be powder coated or heat painted black. MAYBE grey. i dunno.... i say stack it. Grant
