I know I could probably search and find this but hey,,, I'm lazy,,,rotfl

On a 2003 Dodge DRW3500 W / 6 speed What is the correct weight lube to run in the transmission and the rear axle,,,

I have about 65K on it and should be time to drain,,,right ?

Also does the rear require any additive ????

    Thanks,

Amsoil reccommends 5W-30 for the NV5600.

Is your AAM 11.5" a limited slip or not?

If it is it should need an additive. Amsoil Severe gear already contains the needed additive. 75W-90

It wouldn't hurt to get rid of the factory dyno oil by now. I highly reccommend synthetic oils for your drivetrain. If you have it in all the moving parts of your drivetrain you should see a slight gain in fuel mileage and a smaller percentage of drivetrain loss.

Dodge recommends 75w140 synthetic for use when towing, 75w90 when not towing.

Amsoil reccommends 75W-90 regardless, I'd go with Amsoil before I'd go with Dodge's reccommendations.

i know its the manufacturer, but the owners manual says that the lmited slip axle does not require an additive. but 90% of the gear oil you are going to buy has a friction modifier in it anyway.

    Newbie update,,

    Thanks for the responses,,

I went with Royal Purple Syncromax in the trans and their Maxlube 75-90w in the rear axle. Both are synthetic and I immediately noticed a difference in the shifting of the trans,,also saw a jump in the fuel mileage but I also changed the engine oil and air filter at the same time so I don't know how much was due to the lube,,

I went with Royal Purple because they are a Houston based company and the lube is easy to get ( no mail order-NAPA stocks it ) and everything I have heard about their products has been good...

    Thanks again
