My girlfriend suprised me for Valentine's day and bought me the new MBRP 5" turbo back system for my truck. It came in the mail today and of course I didn't waist time getting it installed!waytogo

The install was kind of a pain. The stock exhaust didn't want to come apart. After I got that out the install was fairly strait forward until I came across a wrong exhaust clamp.

They accidently stuck a 4" clamp that has a bracket welded to it in the wrong box. Good thing I had a 5" clamp in stock, and had to cut their bracket off the wrong clamp and weld it onto mine.

It sounds pretty darned cool, can't tell much at idle sitting in the cab, just a low hum. Outside near the tail pipe is sounds pretty deep at idle. Accelerating it sounds great outside, bigger and deeper than a 4" system, great tone. On the inside it isn't bad but I get some drone at 2000-2300RPM's. The intensity of the drone depends on throttle input.

Pretty nice system all in all.

No way, thats far too gaudy, a 6" tip.rotfl I haven't recieved it yet though, the system came without a tip. I am debating whether to use a tip or not, I kind of like the pipe itself.

I'll take pics tommorrow when I get the camera from the girlfriend.

I personally like the tips that are the same size as the pipe but are straight cut chrome without the rolled edge.

I picked a 12" long angle cut rolled tip, polished stainless.

Is the system with or without a muffler? I didn't like the drone of the stock 4" straight so I put a good muffler on it.

Ooooh! I bet that sounds cool! Have you thought of putting an Aeroturbine on it? They make a Powerstroke sound wicked and I bet they'd make a Cummins sound even better.

Yeah it's got a 6" strait through design truck muffler. I don't know how unique it is to MBRP as almost all the brands use the big truck mufflers.

I actually did originally order a 4" Aero muffler and an MBRP 4" system but when I figured what that was going to cost I just said send me the new 5" system that just came out.

The more and more I drive it the more I like it. The tone is GREAT and is so big and boomy with the 5" where the 4" systems lack. I think I did actually gain a few ponies, I'd say in the neighborhood of 10HP or so. I think I gained just slightly better acceleration. Fuel mileage has actually gone down slightly....but mostly due to an uncontrollable urge to roll the windows and and hear Buaaahhhhh (shift) buuuuaaahhhh (shift)....:D

Looks good, id leave it just like that, without a tip. Although i like the look of the big sewer pipe coming out the back of the truck, others dont.:D

I'm considering leaving it, depends on how gaudy the 6" tip looks when the UPS man gets here. I kind of like the bare pipe too, it looks "down to business", no fancy nancyness to it.

sweet. I got a 5" system today too. A friend puts stacks on his stuck so I swiped up his old 5" exhaust he had on it previously. Just gotta get a down pipe of sorts.

not sure on the brand, he had a local shop install it on the truck about a year or so ago then now went stacks. No muffler just a mile of straight pipe then a bend for the axle and output.
