want a set of mirros like this van has for my f350, but cannot find them. where can i get some, or very similar ones for affordable price? mirros do have ford stamped on them, but only see them on box vans like these.
They are called western hauler mirrors. All three used them. They work fairly good, but are ugly as sin. We've got them on one of our chevies.
Go to RV dealerships. You can pick those up pretty easily at any of them. They sell them a lot to mega-rv'ers and on motorhomes/box trucks that hang out past the regular mirror line. I think I even have a used, beat up set around here somewhere from the 70's. Anyhow--be careful once you install them. If you smack them, chances are highly likely they'll rip the sheetmetal at the mounting points. And they're almost impossible to "straighten out" after a minor whack. My motorhome has a set on it that drives me nuts everytime I drive it. Plus, they vibrate around like mad, but they do work for their purpose.
The only other problem with those mirrors aside from ripping the sheetmetal on the doors, is that it makes it extremely easy to put a big dent in the door, and it will usually crack the paint along with the dent. That being said, I had a set on my old truck, and they definitely do their job. I ran mine flipped inwards, with the left mirror on the right side, and the right mirror on the left side, so they wouldnt stick out so far. Since I had a SRW truck, I still had tons of visibility.
i know how to drive and does not fit into any garages with this truck, so denting them is not an issue..... im not to worried about hurting my door on that note i did bend up one of those today on a 97 c3500HD had those mirros flipped backwards and i was putting the truck into a bay thats door is only 6" wider than the mirror.... no problem if i was driving the truck....., but i wasnt, i had the truck hooked from the rear on the back of the large kenworth semi wrecker putting it in from an angle since you cant back straight up to it..... minor door dent, but i poped it back out. all i can say is getting the truck through that door while it was on the tow truck is kinda tricky......
